Andy Murray marries Kim Sears in Scotland

The old-time town of Dunblane in Scotland has been set abuzz by the marriage ceremony of tennis player Andy Murray to his long-term fiance, Kim Sears. Saturday’s program — dubbed as the “the royal wedding of Scotland” – happened at the Dunblane Cathedral, with crowds spilling onto the roads to back their home-grown talent.

The Olympic and Grand Slam and Olympic champion sported a traditional green and blue tartan kilt, when his bride dazzled in a vintage-style dress by Jenny Packham, a British designer. The Dunblane people braved rain, wind, and snow to get a little glimpse of the happy pair, having seen Andy grow from a young boy into a Brit sporting legend.

One of the people standing in the crowd told that this is really great to see them, especially Andy coming back to his hometown. Another said that he is a hero to them. He has done something that all local boys would really strive to do. He’s a superstar.

Andy Murray and Kim Sears met at the US Open in the year 2005. They got engaged last year in November. Before the wedding ceremony, and clearly lost for words, Andy fell back to a series of emoticons on his Twitter account to sum up his excitement for his special day.

Rafael Nadal, his fellow tennis player, tweeted: “Congrats @andy_murray & Kim for your wedding. I wish you all the best!”
